GWise: GW's Impact on Substance Education
GW's Impact on Substance Education (GWise) is a diverse, award-winning student organization dedicated to empowering peers and other members of the GW community to make responsible, healthy decisions that have a positive impact on themselves and their community. GWise members often collaborate with other university departments and student organizations to facilitate programming and discuss other topics impacted by alcohol and other drug use (i.e. sexually transmitted infections, body image, eating disorders, sexual assault, violence, etc.).
GWise is instrumental in planning and implementing programs and events for GW residence halls, other student organizations, and the general GW community. These students plan a variety of proactive, educational events throughout the academic year. GWise events include:
- National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week
- Holiday initiatives on Halloween, Valentine's Day and before Spring Break
- Study Breaks in December and May
- 5th Annual Mix-Off
Who are GWise Peer Educators?
GWise Peer Educators are a diverse group of students who work together to educate our fellow GW peers about the effects of alcohol and drugs.
