Resources For Parents

Congratulations!  You are a parent of a college student.

You've done a great job to get your student to this point, and everyone here at the the George Washington University is confident that your student can and will succeed here.

The Center for Alcohol and other Drug Education serves to educate the campus community, including parents, about alcohol and other drug issues.  Our office is a one-stop resource center for students to provide them with information in order to make responsible and healthy decisions regarding alcohol and other drugs.

College is an exciting time for students and parents alike but it can also bring about changes in the relationship you have with your student. He or she will be away from home, perhaps for the first time. Although they may not admit it, many students feel insecure in new social settings and want to fit in.  Whether you believe it or not, you still have an influence on your student’s decision making and can be a big help in their successful transition to college life. Information from this section of our website is both useful and relevant to every year of college.
