SASA plans and implements outreach programs, campus wide events, and awareness campaigns because we believe that education around violence issues is the number one tool for preventing violence.  As peer educators we reach out to the entire canpus community to educate and raise awareness while focusing efforts on groups such as residential students, Greek-affiliated students, student-athletes, student organizations as well as faculty and staff.  We have also gone outside of GW to high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in DC.  We strive to create awareness campaigns and advocacy events on campus, often with the help of DC non-profit organizations.  Some of our past events include the 3000 Campaign and the Vagina Monologues and our annual events include the Take Back the Night series which includes the Clothesline Project, a Speak-Out and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event.
